Description

Peak summer season vegetables from a regenerative farm in Ottawa!

How does it work?

You’re becoming a half member of our summer Friends of the Farm Harvest Box program. For $225, members are given a balance of $250 on their account. By default, we will make the total of your season’s 5 peak season boxes worth $250.

If you’re on vacation or unable to receive that bi-weekly box for whatever reason, the value of that week’s box will NOT be deducted from your account balance. You can use that remaining balance to buy food and merchandise from us at a farmer’s market we attend, buy something from our online store, contribute that amount as a donation to supplement lower income Friends of the Farm members, or simply keep that balance on your account for the next season.

Is pickup available?

Yes! We are excited to share that we will be offering two pickup spots to make getting your veggies a lot easier. We’ll be at in Little Italy in Ottawa at Nonna’s Famous Pizza every Saturday between 10am and noon, as well as CC’s Corner in Richmond on Mondays between 11:30am and 12:30pm.

Is delivery available?

Yep! $5 or $10 per box, scheduled in advance. (Delivery area is within City of Ottawa limits or communities within 30 minutes of drive of our farm, including Kemptville, Carleton Place, Smiths Falls and Almonte. If you’re farther and still want our awesome food, we will figure something out.) Delivery is only $5 for local Richmond and Munster residents.

Why choose Slowcraft?

When you buy your veggies from us, you’re investing in high quality produce chock full of the best nutrients our healthy soil has to offer. We grow a large variety of heirloom crops that are unique to the Ottawa market (we love weird veggies!) so you can expect a few surprises throughout the season. Plus, no more checking grocery store labels for Canadian grown produce, we source our seeds and natural soil amendments from Canadian small businesses.

Friends of the Farm members are our #1 growing priority for the season, and you belong to this club. Our very best produce will always be set aside for our members, with harvesting times chosen to maximize freshness specifically for you. We’d love to be your farmers!

What are we going to get in a typical box?

In addition to heat-loving summer favourites like tomatoes, eggplant, zuchinni, peppers and onions, we offer a selection of lettuce and other greens, whole and mixed. Each box also contains a selection of specialty kitchen herbs you won’t find anywhere else in town.

Do I have to pay up front?

To be a Friends of the Farm member, yes. Otherwise, see our 2026 Market Schedule.

Can I customize my box?

If you truly love something and want more, we’ll be happy to give you more if there is more available. If you can’t eat or don’t want something, we’ll try and replace it with something you love to the best of our ability. We do reserve the right to limit customizations.

Can I skip a box?

Yep. Vacations happen, plans change. Let us know as early as possible. The value of that harvest box will remain on your FotF account.

What if I am not satisfied?

We want this to be a fruitful relationship throughout the growing season. If you’re dissatisfied for whatever reason, I am sure we can work it out. We are committed to providing you with delicious, regeneratively grown vegetables and herbs over the entire course of our growing season. The beauty of truly farm-fresh grown-in-sunshine vegetables is the slight unpredictability, but we promise to let our bounty be your bounty.

We have a newsletter, it’s called The Slowdown. Get the lowdown on what we’ve got growing, explore our roots of regenerative farming and get a glimpse behind the scenes. We send a monthly newsletter plus a small amount of news and updates as it comes along. Join us!
